Man Recreates Jeep From Jurassic Park

Let’s face it. Every single man is just a big kid at heart. That’s why some of us pursue a career like firefighting. It’s why enjoy hobbies from sports to video games. It’s why we like gadgets and power tools. They’re all things that carry over from childhood to adulthood. Of course, there are cars as well. We all have our dream car. Mines always been a Lamborghini. But there’s also the cars from TV and the movies. We’re talking about vehicles like the General Lee or a time-traveling DeLorean. Unfortunately, a majority of us just mention how much we dig these type of vehicles and go on with our lives. However, there’s a dude in Colorado that’s actually making it a reality.

It all began in 2005, when a couple of friends went to a midnight showing of Ghostbusters. The guys start joking about recreating some scenes from Ghostbusters, and like good friends will do if they’re awesome, they begin to take it seriously. They decide to do Ghostbusters for Halloween by figuring out how to make the proton packs and converting a white Subaru Outback into the Ectomobile. The group pulls it off and people love it.

Later on our innovator is riding around in a Land Rover and gets the urge to have his own open-top, 4-wheel drive vehicle. He then decides that if he had a Jeep he could easily convert it into one from Jurassic Park. Three years later he’s accomplished his mission. After purchasing a 1990 Wrangler for $4,000, he’s now driving around in an almost exact replica of one of the Jeeps seen in Jurassic Park. Thankfully, he’s documented the entire process. While time consuming, and making sure not to leave out any details, he’s pulled off something remarkably cool that anyone could probably manage to do.

After reading how he converted an average run-of-the-mill Wrangler into a vehicle from Jurassic Park -not to mention his Ectomobile – I’m inspired to convert a car into something awesome from the movies too. I’ll probably never do it, but a guy can dream, can’t he? So, what do you think? Is this Jeep awesome or what?
