Kate Upton is Better Than Drugs

Kate Upton is an American model known for her appearance in the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, for which she was named “Rookie of the Year.” She attended an open casting call in Miami for Elite Model Management and was signed by them the same day. Kate eventually moved to New York City, where she signed with IMG Models in 2008.

Kate Upton was born St. Joseph, Michigan and raised in Florida into a political family. She has three siblings and her uncle is Fred Upton, the US Representative for Michigan’s 6th congressional district.

On her family’s five-acre property, Kate’s best friend was the family horse, who she regularly rode and trained for national horse shows. She showed for the American Paint Horse Association and competed on a national level. With her horse “Roanie Pony,” she won three APHA Reserve World Championships, in 13 and Under Western Riding, 13 and Under Horsemanship and 14-18 Western Riding and named the 13 and Under Reserve All-Around Champion at the APHA World Championship Show giving her a total of five championships.

Kate made her first forays into modeling in 2008 by attending an open casting call in Miami for Elite Model Management. The stars happened to align in just the right way, as she was signed by the agency that same day. She eventually moved to New York City, where she signed with IMG Models.

She first modeled for Garage, then Dooney & Bourke. She is the 2010–11 face of Guess. In 2011, Upton appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She was featured in the body-paint section and eventually named “Rookie of the Year” for the issue. She has since modeled for Beach Bunny swimwear and Victoria’s Secret.

In a June 2011 episode of Tosh.0, Upton made a cameo appearance by participating in a fictional Japanese-like segment called “Knife or Banana,” in which she is violently stabbed with a banana.
