Tyra Banks: Former Victoria’s Secret Angel

Tyra Banks is a professional top model. She’s one of the prestigious women in Hollywood. Tyra is the creator and host of the reality television show America’s Next Top Model, the co-creator of True Beauty, and the host of her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show. In fact, she was the first black women who appear on the covers of GQ and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

Tyra Banks was born on December 4, 1973 in Inglewood, California, US. Tyra is an American model, media personality, actress, authoress and businesswoman. Tyra is the daughter of Carolyn London, a medical photographer and Donald Banks, a computer consultant. In 1980, when Tyra was 6 years old, her parents divorced.

Tyra began her modeling career when she was in 11th grade. She later went to Paris, France to do some runway modelling. She has appeared on the covers of high-fashion magazines such as VogueHarper’s BazaarCosmopolitan, and Elle.

Tyra is one of the former Angels of Victoria Secret,  along with Karolina Korkova, Gisele Bundchen, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio. She became the first-ever African American chosen for the cover of the Victoria’s Secret Catalogue. However, May 2006 Tyra retired from modeling to concentrate on her television career. She walked the runway for the final time at the 2005 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Tyra has appeared in several music videos, including “Black or White” by Michael Jackson, “Love Thing” by Tina Turner, “Too Funky” by George Michael with Tyra’s fellow supermodel Linda Evangelista and “Don’t Wanna Lose You”  by Lionel Richie.
