Infinity Ward announced the release of its Modern Warfare 3 for Xbox 360 with a new trailer. The video also discussed about the upcoming Collection 1 and the game’s behind-the-scenes.

On March 20, MW3 fans can purchase and download four new maps and two new Spec Ops missions on Xbox LIVE. However, gamers must be a subscriber of Activision’s Call of Duty Elite service. PS3 and PC players can expect the games downloadable content soon after.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Collection is comprised of Piazza and Liberation maps, Overwatch and the new Black Box which you can use for online gaming. Also included in the collection is the Black Ice and Negotiator, which are Spec Ops mission available for solo or co-op play.

Special Ops Mission: Black Ice and Negotiator

Among the contents available at MW3’s Collection 1, the most intriguing of them all are the Black Ice and Negotiator.

The Black Ice mission slightly deviated from the game’s run-and-gun game play. Here, players will initially find themselves riding a snowmobile as they fight their way to a diamond mine. Once there, the game will resolve to taking cover and trading shots with the enemies.

Negotiator, on the other hand, is way different from Modern Warfare’s typical model. In this mission, the gamer will take the role of a negotiator. True to its name, the mission is all about saving as many of the 35 hostages held around the map as possible. Thus, you don’t need to take down bad guys, but rather determine which of them is about to kill a hostage.

What the Gamers Says

Despite the great maps included in MW3’s upcoming DLC, not all gamers are happy with it. For them, it would be more fun if they do the following:

  • Offer new maps with different layout: Because new maps at Modern Warfare 3 are basically similar to its predecessor, Modern Warfare 2, players already have an insight as to where to go in the most recent game.
  • Include more downloadable content: It’ll be fun if Infinity Ward can include more content on their collection. However, it’s nice to know they made an effort with Spec Ops, which is a flight from three maps and one zombie map. Hopefully, they’ll do more of this in the future.
  • Cut the content’s price: For a $15 subscription at Activision’s Call of Duty Elite service, an addition of six maps may not be worth it. The price tantamount to additional two hours of game play, new maps, additional weapon, and co-op.
