RM Auctions, the industry leader in classic car restoration and auction, displayed the brown 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS for bidding in Monaco. Set for auction on May 12, the car has an estimated value of 165,000-185,000 Euros.

From Sports Car to a Day-to-day Automobile

It is one the 500 Rennsport cars built in 1970’s for homologation purposes. This means that the Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS up for bidding is created for International Automobile Federation’s approval before joining the World Sports Car Championship. Upon approval, it was modified from prototype to production-based machinery. The modifications included lightweight steel and glass, larger fuel-injected 2.7-liter engine, and brake and suspension upgrade. Later, it won the race and held the title from 1970-1972.

After winning the World Sports Car Championship, it was driven back to the factory to transform it as a Touring version. Simply put, the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS was redesigned for daily driving purposes. It now features front and rear bumpers with impact absorbers, leather-trimmed Recaro sport seats, rear luggage compartment, white fog-type head lamps, right-hand comfort seat, electric radio antenna, four speakers, green-tinted side glass, graduated-tint widescreen, engine compartment light and sunroof.
