Amber Laura Heard is an American actress and model. Best known for lead roles in the horror flick All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006), the true kidnapping story Alpha Dog (2006), the mixed martial arts movie Never Back Down (2008), and the funny Pineapple Express (2008).
Amber Heard was born on April 22, 1986, in Austin, Texas. She attended St. Michael’s Catholic Academy in Austin until her junior year, when she left to pursue a career in Hollywood. As a teenager, she was active in her school’s drama department and appeared in local commercials and campaigns.
She first appeared on TV and on film, the most prominent role being in the hit film Friday Night Lights with Billy Bob Thornton at age 18. Following her debut on the big screen, Amber went on to appear in the Academy Award-nominated North Country. She had more prominent parts in Nick Cassavetes’ Alpha Dog and in an episode of Criminal Minds.
Heard was next cast in the CW Network’s Hidden Palms, premiered in the US on May 30, 2007. Murder and mystery were the backdrop for Amber Heard’s first big TV project. Another prominent performace in Alpha Dog, which also featured the likes of Emile Hirsch, Justin Timberlake and Bruce Willis.
Amber took center stage in Never Back Down, a film in which she played the object of affection of two mixed martial artists. Amber fell into our dreams and onto the cover of FHM and by making Maxim’s Hot 100 of 2008 list at No. 21. in October 2008.
