ACER Iconia Tab A700 Goes on Presale

ACER Iconia Tab

A lot of Android tablets have been dubbed as a potential iPad killer. However, it looks like the ACER Iconia Tab A700 will be the first to get close to it. The latest Android tablet is packed with tons of impressive specs, which includes 1920 x 1200-pixel display and 32 GB storage for only $450.

Aside from ASUS, ACER also introduced a “full HD” Android tablet at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show last January. With its 1920 x 1200-pixel screen, the Iconia Tab A700 is deemed to be the first tablet that could be able to catch up against Apple’s new iPad.

Although the Android tablet doesn’t match the iOS device, it still features a significantly enhanced viewing experience with its crisp and detailed text, images and videos. In addition, its 16:10 aspect-ratio has a 178-degree viewing angle that makes it sufficient for sharing. The 10-inch display also features a capacitive touchscreen for improved responsiveness.

When it comes to built-in storage, ACER was also able to undercut Apple by offering 32 GB of space. Furthermore, it is expandable up to 64 GB with the help of a microSD card. The new Iconia Tab also houses NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, micro-USB port for charging and data transfers, micro-HDMI port, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

As for its audio quality, the ACER tablet features Dolby Mobile 3 and improved audio capture capabilities. It also has a bevy of standard features such as integrated GPS and e-compass, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 5-megapixel rear camera without flash, and 1-megapixel front-facing camera. Its 900 mAh battery could make the device last for up to 10.5 hours for video playback.

The ACER Iconia Tab A700 also boasts Polaris Office 3.5 to read and edit documents, pre-installed Evernote, ACER Print app, and ACER Ring Navigation interface.

However, the tablet also has its setback. It weighs 1.47 pounds and 0.06-inch thicker than the new iPad. Although these are just minimal numbers, it would be better if ACER could cut the additional weight to further outdo the Apple tablet. Regardless, the ACER Iconia Tab A700 is one promising Android tablet that could have an edge in the market.

The ACER Iconia Tab A700 is now available for presale, and will be shipping later this month. It will be available on either gray or black.
