After setting its stage at E3 2012 a couple of months ago, Sony made a big game reveal during the Gamescom 2012 event in Cologne, Germany today. The game publisher revealed a bevy of news, and they seem to hold nothing back now, especially with their PlayStation Vita.

What’s New for PS Vita?

During the event, Sony officially stated that it will release update 1.80 for the PS Vita on August 28. This will enable the console to play PS One Classics, as well as give it the ability to become a controller for PS3.

In relation to this, Little Big Planet will be the first title that will take advantage of this technology. Speaking of LBP2, a downloadable content for the game is also coming so that players can use this innovation.

Because of this, it appears that Sony is really beating Nintendo to the punch with an integrated controller and LCD screen.

PlayStation Plus on Vita and Call of Duty Bundle

Other than the PS One Classics game on the Vita, gamers are also in for another good news: the addition of PlayStation Plus. This service will now be available to the owners of PS Vita, and this will include cloud storage for game saves. The storage was even increased from 150 MB to a whooping 1 GB.

For those who are interested to get their hand on a PlayStation Vita, Sony announced that a Call of Duty bundle is also landing in stores. This will include the Vita, Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified, a pouch, and a special touchscreen on the back. However, its pricing and model details are yet to be announced.

Vita Library and Media Molecule’s Tearaway

As if gamers couldn’t get enough of the big news, Sony also revealed that the Vita library will reach 60 by the end of 2012. It will include the newly announced Killzone Mercenary, in addition to Call of Duty, Assassins Creed: Liberation, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Madden 13, and FIFA 13.

Christmas will also look like a happy one for the Vita players this year, as Media Molecule got a new IP for the console called Tearaway. The game has something to do with a piece of paper and being able to mold a world using the Vita features.

During the event, Sony closed its Vita segment on a good note. The PlayStation All Star Battle Royal will be free for the game console for those who will purchase the PS3 version. The same thing will also happen with Sly Cooper and Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault.
