With the IFA 2012 kicking off in Berlin this Friday, Samsung recently posted a teaser on its Samsung Notebook Facebook Page. The image suggests that the company will unveil a Windows 8 tablet hybrid during the annual tech event.

Series of “Smart” Teasers

The Korean electronics maker added a new photo on its page last Monday that shows a Windows 8 tablet with a tag line “Ready to be smart? IFA 2012 Berlin.” It showcases a tablet with Windows 8 start screen and a laptop keyboard underneath, indicating that it will be a hybrid product.

Last Monday’s image teaser was followed with a YouTube video titled “Something Smart is Coming.” The clip runs for 37 seconds, giving viewers a glimpse of a silver laptop clamshell, although it never shows the device’s screen. However, it’s safe to say that people are looking at the same thing, as both teasers are linked to the Samsung Notebook Facebook page and shared the same “smart” promotion.

Although it is unclear when the device will be launched, the video’s caption suggests that it will be ready before the release of Windows 8 this October. As captioned:

“Take a look at this video for a glimpse into our newest Windows-8-ready [sic] innovation.”

The fact that it’s “Windows 8-ready” means that the device will be shipped with Windows 7, and it can be upgraded to the upcoming Microsoft operating system. Perhaps the upgrade will be available this October with a $15 fee.

Next in Line: Series 5 Hybrid

Samsung is yet to reveal what the device would be called, but there’s a big chance that it will lead to the official reveal of its Series 5 Hybrid.

Announced during the Computex event last June, the tablet-laptop hybrid image teaser in the company’s Facebook Page resembles what it showed off earlier this summer. In the event, Samsung offered little when it comes to the device’s specifications, but the company hints that the Series 5 Hybrid will feature 11.6-inch touchscreen display, Intel chip, and front and rear-facing cameras.

Prior to this, Fujitsu also announced a similar Windows 8-ready product, the Stylistic Q702. There were also speculations that Dell and Lenovo will reveal potential Windows 8 tablet and PCs. This only means that Windows 8 will become a hot topic in the upcoming event. Indeed, Friday will be a day of big revelations for the next-generation Windows.
