The North American PlayStation Vita store launched nine PSOne classics earlier this week, compared to the hefty list that landed on PlayStation Network Europe. The news games on PS Vita came together with the software update 1.8. However, it appears that Sony is making an effort to fix the situation by adding 26 more games.

The titles are now available for download, and there are still other games that users can put on their Vita by purchasing and transferring it from PlayStation 3. The additional games now available on North American PS Vita store are listed below:

  • Alundra
  • Arc the Lad II
  • Championship Bass
  • Extreme Pinball
  • Grandia
  • Hi Octace: The Track Fights Back
  • Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
  • Magic Carpet
  • Medal of Honor
  • Medal of Honor Underground
  • Nuclear Strike
  • Oddworld Abe’s Exodus
  • Oddworld Abe’s Oddysee
  • Populous – The Beginning
  • R4 Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Rayman 1
  • Rayman 2
  • Sim City 2000
  • Soviet Strike
  • Tekken
  • Tekken 2
  • Theme Hospital
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
  • Tomba!
  • Vanguard Bandits
  • Wing Commander IV

Aside from the additional games and PSOne compatibility on the Vita, the software update brought in a new user interface. Sony also added that this is just the beginning, as more PSOne titles will be available on the Vita soon.

The company also reminded that gamers can re-download the aforementioned games if they’ve already purchased it. They can get it straight from the PS Store or transfer the games from their PS3 to PS Vita with no extra charge.

Get the PS Vita Update 1.8

Prior to this, it was reported that Sony released a new software update for its latest game console. Other than the release of version 1.8, the company also updated the PlayStation Store for North America and Europe, although there were some discrepancies on the PSOne titles for Vita that are available on either network.

The reason behind the huge difference in available games is still unknown, although many users reported that they can purchase other PSOne titles on their Vita via console transfer. These include “Metal Gear Solid,” “Silent Hill,” and “Street Fighter Alpha One.”

The PS Vita System Software Update 1.8 is now available via download straight from the console’s Wi-Fi feature or the network feature of PS3, Windows PC, or Mac. Once the update is complete, go to the PS Vita home screen and tap Settings > Start > System > System Information to see if the download and system update are successful.

Users can also check out Sony’s YouTube video for a walkthrough to some of the highlighted changes in the system.
