Nissan took the wraps off its redesigned 2013 Nissan Sentra—its third product reveal for the past six months.

According to the car manufacturer, the new model is light by 150 pounds compared to its predecessor. It is also fuel efficient, returning up to 40 mpg highway. The car features a new 1.8-liter engine, rated at 130 horsepower and 128 pound-foot of torque. It will probably use a continuous variable transmission, with the six-speed manual available in the base S model.

2013 Nissan Sentra: Styling Cues and Under the Hood

With regard to the vehicle’s styling cues, the 2013 Nissan Sentra resembles with the 2013 Altima. Its trim level is made of the base model S, SV, SR, and SL. The car also features a 0.6-inch longer wheelbase than its predecessor. However, the car is narrower and doesn’t stand as tall, cutting wind drag from 0.34 to 0.29.

The new model will only be the compact sedan that will have the standard LED lights. In addition, the car has a shorter front overhang and longer rear overhang. It is obvious that the design is intended to make the vehicle more aerodynamic. As stated by Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager of Nissan North America:

Sentra has long been known as one of the roomiest sedans in class and the latest iteration is no exception. The fine-tuning of its dimensions has created not only extremely well-balanced exterior proportions but enhanced rear set legroom and created a larger, more usable trunk space.

Audio System for 2013 Nissan Sentra

The 2013 Nissan Sentra also comes with a four-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system, although buyers have the option to avail its six-speaker version with 4.3-inch color display. It also comes with USB connection for the iPod and other devices, as well as an eight-speaker Bose Premium system with amplifier. Car owners can also opt in to include the Sirius XM satellite radio system and Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System.

Furthermore, the car has an updated Nissan navigation system called NissanConnect. The navigation includes hands-free text messaging assistant that reads incoming text message and enables the driver to reply without taking his or her hands off the steering wheel.

The vehicle also offers Pandora radio capability, audio streaming via Bluetooth, 5.8-inch touchscreen display, NavTraffic functions, Google-powered POIs, and Send-to-Car functions. Its navigation system also boasts curve warnings and speed limit information. Other options include rear view monitor, push-button ignition switch, and tire pressure alert system.
