Namco Bandai announced that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is now available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.  The combat video game features the largest roster of characters in Tekken history, a completely re-engineered online system, and Snoop Lion as a special guest. As stated by Katsuhiro Harada, Namco Bandai’s project director for Tekken:

We are very excited for our fans in the western market to play Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and experience first-hand all of the improvements we made to the series, many of which were a result of their feedback to previous Tekken installments.

More About Tekken Tag Tournament 2

The game is the eighth installment in the Tekken fighting game series, and it is the successor of the 1999 game, Tekken Tag Tournament. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was first released in the Japanese arcades last September 2011, followed by an “Unlimited” update last March 2012.

Unlike its predecessor, the game features a storyline after Tekken 6, although it is still not cannon. The main story mode, which is the Fight Lab, is akin to a “dream match.”

New Features: Tekken Tag Tournament 2

The game developer added new features in the game like the Fight Lab. It enables new and experienced gamers to learn basic and advanced Tekken mechanics through a series of stages. They can also customize their own Combat character by buying moves from other characters and mixing and matching it into a deathly combat machine.

Also in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is the Pair Play. This feature lets gamers have four-player matches with each character controlling a tag combatant. The game also allows players to fight in a one-on-one match and solo vs. tag-team fight. These game modes give new players an easy entry point in the game, while seasoned gamers can have additional gameplay. Harada added:

The development team has gone to great lengths to ensure our fans have a completely new experience with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 by adding innovative new features like pair play, a vastly improved online experience, and the largest fighter roster ever. We hope that our fans enjoy the game as mush as we have and are looking forward to watching the best fighters from around the world compete in the ultimate battle.

Although the game is currently available for Xbox 360 and PS3 only, Nintendo fans can get into action as soon as Tekken Tag Tournament 2 lands on Wii U this holiday season.
