It’s confirmed! Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be available to Wii U when the system becomes available on November 18. The announcement was made by the game developer’s CEO, Eric Hirshberg, during Nintendo’s event in New York.

This could be a little surprising since Nintendo “subconsciously” created its much-awaited console to a slightly different audience. Despite that, this gives gamers a hint that Black Ops 2’s Wii U version will offer something that PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 don’t—co-op play with each players having their own screen.

Co-op Gameplay on Black Ops 2 Wii U

During the live demo, it shows that gamers can play in co-op mode against bots in the game’s multiplayer maps. One player can use the TV as his monitor while the other can use Wii U’s tablet controller. It’s also possible that this game mode will work on the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s co-op Zombie mode, although the details are still pretty scarce regarding the specifics.

In addition, it was stated on the Black Ops 2’s official fact sheet that players can use the Wii-mote and Nunchuck combo. They can enjoy the game with WiiU Pro or Classic Controller.

It looks like Nintendo will have a robust online support for its upcoming game console, which includes Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s eSports integration. That’s because online plays a crucial role to co-op gameplay. However, it’s unclear whether the Wii U will enable integrated voice chat.

Other Features

Hirshberg added that the Black Ops 2 will look great on Wii U, as it runs at 60 fps. It will support Pro Controller, WiiMote, Nunchuck, and the Wii U gamepad. The gamepad can be used to look at the map, choose loadouts, and call in killstreaks.

The console will let players experience the game in high definition, offering the most advanced textures, lighting, and shadowing system. They can also take advantage of Wii U’s second-screen experience on the GamePad, which will allow them to experience the full Call of Duty action from the second-screen functionality.

Players can also choose to use the console’s split-screen functionality so that they could use both the game pad and the Pro Controller. Wii U also supports up to four controllers, including the WiiMote and the Nunchuck.

Furthermore, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on Wii U includes more multiplayer modes such as the Challenges, Core & Party Game Modes, Custom Games, Combat Training, Theater Enhancements, Emblem Editor and Prestiging.
