Released for the Holidays: Apple’s iPad Mini Arrives in November

Source: apple.com

It appears that Apple will keep its usual release schedule for the so-called iPad Mini. Many are expecting that the 7-inch tablet will become available in less than two weeks after it is announced.

The iPad Mini’s Imminent Release

According to an unnamed source, Apple’s so-called iPad Mini will hit the stores and will become available to online buyers on November. That’s just more than a week after the 7-inch tablet’s purported announcement tomorrow.

The company has employed the same release schedules with its other devices, including the iPhone 5 and the new iPad.

What makes the iPad Mini’s release interesting is the fact that it is technically a new product from Apple. In relation to this, the company usually gives a longer lead time between the announcement and the anticipated release of a new product. But whether the iPad maker will announce a small form tablet tomorrow remains to be seen.

On the other hand, pushing the release of the small form tablet will give Apple an opportunity to take advantage of the holiday shopping season. It would also give them some time to ramp up its supplies before “Black Friday” kicks off. Black Friday is considered as one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

Sales Projection for the iPad Mini

The iPad Mini’s November 2 release is so accepted that analysts from The Wall Street Journal are using it to calculate their sales projection. That is even after the invitations to a special media event in San Jose, California were rolled to the members of the press last week.

Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster stated in a note to investors last Wednesday that a presumed November 2 release of the 7-inch tablet would enable to company to sell 5 million units during the last quarter of the year. Rob Cihra of Evercore Partners added that Apple could even sell 7 million units during this period.

On the other hand, Apple’s own projection may be higher. According to WSJ, the company placed an order of over 10 million iPad Minis to be delivered for the last quarter of the year.

Expected Features

It is expected that the much-awaited iPad Mini will feature a 1024 x 768-pixel display resolution. It has the same screen resolution as the iPad 2, which will allow native applications to run on the 7-inch tablet without any modification.

The device will also sport a front and rear-facing cameras, as well as Lightning connectors that can be found on iPhone 5 and latest iPod models.
