After it was rumored last month, game developer Bethesda confirmed that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s next downloadable content is called Dragonborn. The DLC will be available next month for Xbox 360. However, there are no words as to when it will be available for PlayStation 3 or PC.

Meet the Dragonborn

Bethesda will be releasing the next expansion for the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, titled “Dragonborn”, on December 4. It will be available for Xbox 360 for 1,600 Microsoft Points or $20.

The DLC was hinted last month, when a forum user pointed out that the game’s source code for patch 1.8 contained frequent mentions of the words “Dragonborn” and “DLC2”.

Next DLC will be called Dragonborn. It is set in Solstheim. Main locations are Raven Rock, Miraak Temple, Castle Karstaag and Telvanni Tower. You will might be able to ride dragon. Also, new armor types, possible horse (?) Bomemold, Chitin, Nordic and Stalhrim.

During those times, it was speculated that the DLC will allow gamers to ride dragons. This has not been confirmed, although a video trailer strongly suggests that it will be the case.

Dawnguard and Hearthfire

The latest DLC will follow the game’s previous released DLC that includes Dawnguard and Hearthfire. Both are available for Xbox 360 and PC, but potentially unsolvable issues were the reason why those were not available for PS3.

The game developer pointed out that the Dawnguard and Hearthfire expansions are not stable enough to be released for PS3. However, the game developer’s representative declined to detail those unsolvable issues, only saying that they tried to fix it but to no avail.

Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you’re talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. Dawnguard is obviously not the DLC that we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

In relation to this, Bethesda stated that the missing Skyrim DLC for the said console is their fault and not of Sony. As pointed out by the game developer’s Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing Pete Hines: “We have never blamed anyone or anything. It’s our problem, and it’s on us to solve it.”
