It should be noted that gamers can simply use the serial number included in the packaging to download the game’s full copy. So unless they are able to download the file, they won’t be able to stop Mass Effect 2 from booting. Moreover, it is yet to be known how widespread the problem is.

BioWare Offers Free Game Copies to Affected Players

On the other hand, BioWare acknowledges the reports that those who purchased the game found a surprise copy of Mass Effect 2. While Activision is yet to provide an official statement about the situation, the Mass Effect developer offered free copies of their game’s trilogy to affected players.

Despite that, AMOG previously reported that Black Ops 2 was able to set a historic launch record for Activision. Although no words were given, the game publisher said that their latest title was able to surpass the record made by Modern Warfare 3 last year. This is something that “humbled” the game publisher giant. According to Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg:

In addition to an amazing and innovative game, we’re also proud and humbled to see the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 creating yet another legitimate, pop cultural phenomenon. To our millions of fans worldwide, who have driven everything from pre-orders to YouTube views, to midnight lines outside of stores worldwide to new levels, we just want to say, thank you.
