Konami refuted the reports that their Metal Gear Solid 4: 25th Anniversary Edition will be available for Xbox 360. That is after an online shop in New Zealand posted that the game will land on Microsoft’s game console.

The game developer also pointed out that the Xbox 360 logo found on the box art appears to be photoshopped. Moreover, the online retailer posted that the game’s Xbox 360 version is currently unavailable.

Konami also confirmed that the Metal Gear Solid 4 will be exclusive to PlayStation 3, and that they have no plans of releasing it for Xbox 360. As stated by the company’s representative:

It’s a welcome return to the rumor, but there are no plans to release Metal Gear Solid 4 on Xbox 360.

Due to out next month for £20, the Metal Gear Solid 4: 25th Anniversary Edition will include the trophy support update that was announced last July.

More About Metal Gear Solid 4: 25th Anniversary Edition

Last July Konami announced that they will release the Metal Gear Solid 4 to stores again. In fact, two retail chains in United Kingdom—Zavvi and ShopTo—now have listings for the game’s 25th Anniversary Edition.

However, it was not disclosed what will be included in the game. But based on the price, it appears that the extra, if any, will be limited for every retailer. Metal Gear Solid 4 is set five years after the events of MGS2. The game’s story revolves around Snake who only have months to live. His last mission is to kill his nemesis, Liquid Snake.

When the game was launched last 2008, it was released with Metal Gear Online. MGO was a full-fledged multiplayer experience, which allows players to test their combat and stealth skills against each other on different game modes.

However, Konami shut down MGO last June, which means that this feature will not be included in the 25th Anniversary Edition. Although re-released version of the game often comes with post-launch downloadable content, they can’t do it with MGS4. That’s because the recent DLC released by the game developer were all for MGO.

On the other hand, MGS4 returned to stores in Japan with a trophy patch and full install option. Because of this, many speculated that the game’s special edition will have the same features. But whatever is in store with Metal Gear Solid 4: 25th Anniversary Edition will be revealed as soon as it land on shelves.
