Although it is yet to be revealed, Europe-wide figures for the Nintendo Wii U sales is believed to be a sellout success. As estimated by gaming news website MCV UK, the latest gaming console was able to sold 40K units during its launch weekend. In addition, retailer reported that there was a complete sellout for the Wii U.

Wii U: Complete Sellout and Staggering Supply

Weeks prior to this, there were worrying reports that only 25K Nintendo Wii U units will be sold during its launch weekend. Thus, the estimated 40K consoles represent an improvement on previous speculations.

However, there were reports that there will be a staggered arrival of stocks of the game console for the rest of the year. But there’s no need to fret as the availability of Wii U will significantly increase next year.

In relation to this, industry pundits believe that launch sales for Nintendo’s gaming console could have been higher if there were available stock. It was also estimated that at least two games are bough for every console, excluding download purchases from the Wii U eShop.

If the estimated figures turns out to be true, this could mean good news for UK. Not to mention that there were claims of high demands, which could have been sustained by high level of stock.

Nintendo Wii U Sales in the US

Aside from UK, it was also reported that US garnered 400K Nintendo Wii U sales during its debut week. This success could be attributed to solid set of figures and demand for the new gaming system.

In an interview with CNet, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that total US hardware sales reached over 1.2 million units. This includes the Wii U, Wii and handheld 3DS and DS consoles. In fact, Nintendo was able to sell more than 700,000 consoles last week, 400,000 of which are Wii U units.

The same good news is also expected to happen once the console hits the streets of Japan on December 8. In addition, the Wii U was launched with 24 games to choose from, including Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. According to Nintendo President Satoru Iwata:

Wii U redefines the structure of home entertainment by fundamentally changing how the TV, the game console and the Internet function and interact together.

Hopefully, after filing an annual lost for the first time, the new console could help the company cope up with all the losses.
