Last Monday, Looxcie announced that they would be bringing their tiny Bluetooth-enabled Looxcie HD streaming camera to Europe via Apple retail stores. Aside from that, they also announced a new real-time collaborative enterprise platform called Vidcie during the International Consumer Electronics Show 2013.

Looxcie: Striking a Deal with Apple

It was reported that Looxcie signed a deal with Apple to sell their products in the tech giant’s retail stores across Europe. This marks a big step in the POV camera manufacturer’s international strategy. Prior to this, Looxcie’s sale and marketing strategy has been limited to regional resellers.

The company is planning to kick off their sales on January 23, when Apple’s brick-and-mortar and online stores start carrying the latest camera model—Looxcie HD. The camera system uses Bluetooth to link to various devices for live video streaming or capture and storage. This includes Apple’s iPhone and iPad. More Looxcie HD Features are listed below:

  • Full HD recording up to 1080p @30fps or 720p @60fps
  • 480p mobile streaming for sharing a live feed anytime, anywhere
  • Simultaneous streaming and recording
  • Sleek, hands-free design with a wide range of mounting options
  • Mobile app for viewfinder and controls
  • Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Weather-resistant enclosure for use in virtually any climate
  • Low-light sensor for use in dim lighting
  • Unique Instant Clip button for creating “instant replays”
  • Protective lens filter
  • Rechargeable and replaceable battery
  • Supports microSDHC card up to 32 GB

Meet Looxcie’s Vidcie

Aside from Looxcie’s partnership with Apple, the company also announced the Vidcie platform for enterprise customers. The new product line, which includes the rugged and weather-proof Vidcie Tough, can be used for real-time remote viewing and collaboration. This is best used during “in field” commercial applications.

Designed for the enterprise market, the system also works with consumer Looxcie 2 and Looxcie HD devices to stream live video and sound to off-site collaborators. As pointed out by Looxcie CEO Rom Pereira:

Looxcie’s new Vidcie enterprise platform meets demand in the market across many industries—from security and risk management to field assistance and service escalation. Our integrated solution of hands-free cams and live streaming service allows workers to solve problems and collaborate in real time, creating business efficiencies that help save money and conserve resources.

On the other hand, pricing and availability of the Vidcie platform and the Vidcie Tough POV camera are yet to be announced.
