After it was released for the Nintendo 3DS last year, Resident Evil Revelations finally got a release date for other gaming platforms. As reported by Capcom Unity website, the game will be available on May 21 and May 24 in US and Europe respectively.

For $49.99, the game will be available as a physical disc for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U. It will have a digital version for PS3 and PC upon launch, with the Xbox 360 and Wii U digital versions to follow.

RE Revelations: Raid Mode Co-op and Other Features

As expected, Resident Evil Revelations will include an online Raid Mode Co-op, enhanced HD graphics and lightning. But the game will also contain a couple of new bells and whistles.

This includes Hunk, who’s going to be a playable character in Raid Mode. He will bring in his unique gas mask to the Queen Zenobia cruise ship and in other locations in the game.

The RE Revelations new game will be more difficult and will also boast a new enemy, new Raid weapons, and new Custom Parts that will make a weapon more formidable. This could come in handy in harder Raid maps.

Gameplay, Reception, and Expectations

Resident Evil Revelations brings back the survival horror gameplay of the series’ previous installments. Also making a comeback are the known elements such as limited supply of ammunition and more emphasis on exploration and puzzle solving. Raid Mode, on the other hand, will enable two players to cooperate in battling waves of enemies.

When it was released for the 3DS in 2012, the game received positive reviews, holding aggregated scores of 83.57 percent at GameRankings and 82/100 at Metacritic. In fact, Jane Douglas of GameSpot praised the game’s visuals and entertaining story. Richard Gorge of IGN also praised RE Revelations’ gameplay and excellent graphics, but criticized the story.

Meanwhile, Game Informer’s Tim Turi noted that the game has impressive visuals and brooding atmosphere, and claimed that the game’s story was one of the best in years. What he criticized is its lack of enemy variety compared to the other installment in the series.

If you had a blast playing this game in Nintendo 3DS last year, you might be giddy to know that it will land on other gaming consoles. As posted on Capcom Unity website, RE Revelations will have good scares, as well as moments of actual isolation and uncertainties.
