After it was announced last month, Apple has started offering a 128 GB iPad 4 on its online store. It comes with Wi-Fi-only and LTE-enabled versions that cost $799 and $929 respectively.

But aside from the additional memory, the latest tablet configuration is identical to the fourth-generation iPad that features less memory. It still includes the Apple-designed A6X processor and the front-facing FaceTime HD camera.

As of the moment, Apple lists shipping of their latest iPad within one to three business days for both Wi-Fi and GSM versions. In addition, the GSM version is designed to work on AT&T’s cellular network. Verizon and Sprint subscribers, on the other hand, will have to wait within three to five business days. That’s because the CDMA version of the 128 GB iPad 4 will take that long to be shipped.

In the Horizon: Apple’s 128 GB iPad 4

According to Apple’s-centric website Macworld, the addition of iPad 4 with higher capacity should come as welcome news for power users. That’s because it gives them more space to store loads of media like videos, photos, or high-quality music.

The addition of higher-capacity tablet to the iPad family should come as welcome news to power users who need to store lots of media like videos, photos, or high-quality music. In addition, as the App Store inches towards one million apps, more memory is likely to benefit every user in the long run, particularly once economies of scale allow Apple to lower prices in the long run.

Higher Capacity, More Reasons to Love iPad

Prior to this, announcement of the 128 GB iPad 4 came at the heels of recently released iOS 6.1 software update. There were claims that the software update included references to a new iOS device with a storage capacity of 128 GB.

Before this, the maximum capacity of iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch is 64 GB. As stated by Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Market:

With more than 120 million iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world lover their iPads, and everyday they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs. With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.
