After news about an iOS 6.1 passcode bypass exploit emerged, Apple has given word that they will be rolling out a software update to repair the vulnerability. As stated by Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller, the Cupertino-based company is working on a solution to the issue.

Apple takes user security very seriously. We are aware of this issue and will deliver a fix in a future software update.

However, Muller gave no details with regards to the software update’s release date.

News of the passcode glitch surfaced last Wednesday, following Jailbreak Nation’s YouTube video. The said clip shows a step-by-step guide to bypassing iOS 6.1’s passcode lock feature. The said glitch is almost identical to the one that was discovered in iOS 4.1 last October 2010.

In relation to this, the bypass process allows other users to view and modify an iPhone’s contacts, listen to voicemail, and browse photos. However, there were no words as to whether the iOS 6.1 passcode flaw grants access to email or the web.
