Although it was already announced in Europe last week, Sony was able to sprint out of the post-CES gate with a pair of new mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. Coming this April, meet the Sony Alpha NEX 3N and A58 DSLT.

Sony A58 DSLT

Joining Sony’s A77 and A99 advanced camera arsenal is the new A58 DSLT. It is designed as an affordable DSLR-style that features the company’s signature Translucent Mirror Technology. The said technology directs light onto the main image sensor, as well as a separate autofocus sensor. In addition, the device is also paired with an 18-55 mm F3.5-5.6 SAM II kit lens that provides a quieter autofocus mechanism.

It sports a new, advanced 20.1-megapixel CMOS APS-C sensor, and it also uses Sony’s SLT technology for shooting up to 8 frames per second. Moreover, it has a new lock-on autofocus, and ISO range of 100 to 16000. The camera also has an updated processor, Auto Object Framing technology, and a bright OLEV EVF that is designed to improved framing, focusing, and image playback. It works with an assortment of 35 interchangeable A-mount lenses, including two tele-converters.

Sony Alpha NEX 3N

A new addition to their entry-level Alpha line, the Alpha NEX 3N is a compact system camera that boasts a small and light body. It also comes in with 16.1-megapixel APS-C size sensor, collapsible 16-50 mm motorized zoom lens, and Sony’s Auto Object Technology that offers advanced composition by automatically identifying the scene’s subject and cropping it.

The Sony Alpha NEX 3N measures 4.33 x 2.44 x 1.38 inches, and is designed for people who want to shift from fixed lens to an interchangeable lens. It also has an updated Bionz processor, which adjust levels of noise reduction in images to produce crisp images in all types of lighting. Sony’s new Alpha model has a maximum ISO of 16000, although it requires flash, as well as 180 degree tiltable 3-inch LCD screen for easy self-portrait framing. This camera joins Sony’s NEX line of compact interchangeable lens cameras as a replacement for the NEX F3.

Both Alpha NEX 3N and A58 DSLT will be available this April. However, the former costs about $500, while the latter carries a price tag of about $600.
