Onkyo’s Android SlatePads | Official Press Release

Although they are best known worldwide for their audio gear, Japanese tech company Onkyo has tried its hands at PCs, music services, as well as dual-screen netbook. In fact, they are set to release six Android SlatePads in Japan next month.

What serves to be their entry level device is a 7-inch tablet that features 1.2 GHz Cortex-A8 CPU, 800 x 480 screen resolution, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB of storage and ICS. The rest of the tablets have Dual-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A9 processor, 1 GB RAM, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. These features can be found in a 7-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch, and two 9.7-inch models.

All Onkyo Android-powered tablets will hit Japan stores on March 8 for as low as 10,480 Yen. A 9.7-inch model with 2,048 x 1536 screen resolution will be available for 28,800 Yen. However, the tablets are less likely to go stateside—unless you’re willing to shell out extra cash for overseas shipping. You can check out Onkyo’s official press release for more details.
