According to NPD DisplaySearch, Apple is expected to release their iPad Mini with Retina Display either on the third or fourth quarter of 2013. That is after Google launched their redesigned Nexus 7 in the second quarter of the year.

As reported by CNet last Friday, supply chain checks points to the possibility of producing the so-called iPad Mini with Retina Display during the third quarter of the year. This only suggests that the device won’t be available for quite a while.

CNet’s report is in line with KGI analyst Ming Chi Kuo’s previous statement that the purported device would be introduced in the middle of the third quarter. This estimated timeline is roughly the same as last year when Apple’s iPad Mini was released about two months after Google launched their small-form tablet.

As for the 7-inch tablet’s specs, DisplaySearch’s paul Semenza believes that it will sport a screen with 2048 x 1536-pixel resolution. This would give the iPad Mini a pixel density of as much as 324 pixels per inch.
