It appears that Apple’s so-called low-cost iPhone will not feature a larger screen. Instead, it will have a 4-inch screen that is similar to iPhone 5.

Low-Cost iPhone: Rumored Specs and Features

Details about Apple’s rumored smartphone were revealed last Friday by KGI Securities’ Ming Chi Kuo. According to him, specs for the low-cost iPhone were already decided since 2011. He also pointed out that the Cupertino-based company is unlikely to change abruptly because of the market shift towards larger 5-inch display.

Aside from that, the purported device is said to have ultra-thin plastic casing that is mixed with glass fiber. This would make the material stronger, thinner, and lighter than the usual smartphone plastic casing.

It is also expected that the handset will come in various colors, akin to Apple’s iPod lineup. This rumor is in line with iLounge’s earlier report. According to the report, the handset will have a 5-inch screen like the iPhone 5, but it will also take in some design cues from the previous and latest iPod models.

The iPhone 5S

Other than the low-cost iPhone, Kuo also expects Apple to release the next-generation iPhone model dubbed as iPhone 5S. It was previously revealed that the smartphone will feature a fingerprint sensor under the home button, which will remove the need to enter passwords. The iPhone 5S is also expected to have a secure e-wallet transaction functionality through Passbook.
