Last Friday, Twitter finally announced a date for the anticipated TweetDeck closure for all iPhone, Android and Adobe AIR apps. According to the company’s official blog, the service’s discontinuation will take place on May 7.

TweetDeck AIR, TweetDeck for Android and TweetDeck for iPhone will be removed from their respective app stores and will stop functioning on May 7.

Web-only Development for TweetDeck

As it turns out, Twitter will be focusing on a web-only development for TweetDeck. They are also expecting to keep the app’s browser and Google Chrome version alive. Moreover, TweetDeck’s Mac and PC versions will still be available and should receive regular updates.

Twitter purchased TweetDeck back in 2011 for $40 million. Since then, the microblogging giant has groomed it into a powerful web app.

Aside from TweetDeck, Twitter announced that they will be pulling off their Facebook assets on the same day.
