It seems that the new generation of gaming is putting up solid RPG lineup in the horizon, as Lords of the Fallen, which was announced last August 2012, is on its way. The said game aims to be a challenging and hardcore experience for potential players.

More about Lords of the Fallen

In an interview with Eurogamer last Monday, Tomasz Gop of City Interactive Games revealed new details behind Lords of the Fallen’s ambitious concept.

According to him, the game will be a combat-focused RPG, which means that fights will be long and will require tactics due to skilled and powerful enemies. However, character creation will still be prevalent, while an extensive skill tree will give players much flexibility.

It was also revealed that the game’s combat system was inspired by Dark Souls, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and Batman: Arkham City. As Gop stated:

It’s a challenging game, action RPG, which means a lot of advanced combat… When you walk through a location, and you have to fight ten enemies, that takes around an hour.

When you fight in Mortal Kombat, when you fight in Tekken, that’s why it takes so long—Dark Souls is probably a strong reference as well. But we’ve done a lot of things differently. For example, we have a skill tree. I would call Borderlands here, because we’re gonna have something like action skills in the game, so classes, stuff like this.

In relation to this, Gop praised the rumored PlayStation 4’s share feature for recording and editing gameplay, which could come in handy for Lords of the Fallen. He added that the game will scant few online features, but it will be—first and foremost—a single player.

Lords of the Fallen is expected to be released next year for PC, PS4, and the next-generation Xbox.
