As the 2013 fiscal year closes for Nintendo, the company has announced their financial documents with regards to the sales performance of their hardware and software. It was revealed that the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL’s lifetime sales reached to 31.09 million units.

Since its release in 2011, the Nintendo 3DS’ lifetime sales were able to surpass the original Xbox and GameCube. However, it’s still a lot of work in order to outrank PlayStation 2 that sold 155 million units and the Nintendo DS with 153 million units sold.

Nintendo Software Performance Sales

As for its software sales, Nintendo was able to sell over 45 million games for the 3DS during the past fiscal year. This pushes the console’s lifetime software sales to more than 95 million units.

Moreover, the company unveiled a wide array of upcoming games for the Nintendo 3DS during their recent Nintendo Direct presentation. It is expected that these games will push the company’s latest handheld forward in the coming months and years.
