As of March 2013, Apple saw an increase of US smartphone market share to 39 percent. That is according to the recent statistics released by research firm comScore.

According to comScore’s MobiLens service, Apple was able to retain its top spot at America’s smartphone user market for the first quarter of 2013. The Cupertino-based company’s users now stand at 136.7 million people.

Apple’s Market Share vs. Samsung and HTC

Apple’s market share in the mobile industry saw an increase from 36.3 to 39 percent during the first three months of 2013. It is the largest jump seen on the top five OEMs.

On the other hand, Samsung recorded a market growth of 0.7 percent, remaining on the second spot after Apple. HTC, however, slide from 10.2 to 9 percent in terms of market share during the first quarter of 2013.

Meanwhile, Apple’s iOS mobile platform also saw a 2.7 percent bump, and was the only mobile operating system that made an increase for the March quarter. Google’s Android platform has a decrease in market share for 1.4 percent.

Smartphone users in the US now make up 58 percent of the entire mobile market, a-9 percent increase since December. That number is more likely to grow as carriers continue to offer subsidies and aggressive pricing.
