Apple took the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California last Monday for their highly anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference 2013. During the event, CEO Tim Cook talked about the company’s state of mobile and traditional computing platforms, as well as their iOS 7, the new Mac Pro desktop, the OS X Mavericks, and many more.
Apple’s iOS 7
The debut of iOS 7 is considered to be the biggest announcement Apple made during WWDC 2013. It is the first to take flight from the usual interface design with more skin-deep changes. The latest version of the iPhone maker’s mobile operating system features iCloud Keychain, upgraded Safari browser, AirDrop support, new gesture-based commands, and automatic updates.
Listening to iTunes Radio
It’s official! Apple’s music streaming service, iTunes Radio, is here. This will allow user to listen to more than 200 pre-set stations or the stations they created based on the songs they like. It will also boast Siri integration, and will be available across all Apple platforms and PCs that run iTunes.
Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks
The latest version of Mac OS X, the Mavericks, will include an updated Safari browser, iCloud Keychain, better Notifications, re-designed Calendar app among others. The OS X 10.9 is also announced to be energy-efficient with 72 percent less CPU activity compared to its predecessors.
The New Mac Pro
The Cupertino-based company has finally announced a new iteration of their Mac Pro, after years of neglecting this platform. Aside from the drastic change in design and size of the chassis—which is only one-eighth the size of the most recent Mac Pro—it is packed with 2.5 times the power, and can even support multiple 4K displays.
Updated MacBook Air
Aside from the Mac Pro, Apple also released an updated version of their MacBook Air. It is expected to be energy-efficient and faster because of Intel’s Haswell processor. There’s also an improvement in the battery, with the 13-inch model expected to last up to 12 hours on a single charge.
With the latest announcements from Apple, people can expect nothing but an awesome holiday season filled with iDevices.
