By answering a Twitter inquiry, Sony Worldwide Studio President Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that remote the play feature between PlayStation 4 and PS Vita will work via Internet. This means that users can stream games while on the go.

Prior to this, Yoshida confirmed that the remote feature would be available on all PS4 games aside from those with external peripheral requirements.

As previously reported by Digital Foundry, compressing and downscaling a game’s audio and video will be the responsibility of PS4’s built-in hardware—the h.264 video encoder. This would remove the need to burden the main hardware with this kind of hurdle, just like what happened on the PS3.

However, Yoshida pointed out that quality of the Internet connection on the Vita would be a big factor. That’s because the streamed video will still be in Vita’s native 960 x 544 resolution, which takes a bit of bandwidth. Nevertheless, having a good Wi-Fi access via PS Vita and being able to stream games from PS4 will still be a good selling point for both gaming consoles.
