Game publisher Square Enix decided to remove the in-game restriction of Deus Ex: The Fall on jailbroken iOS devices after gamers noted that the company was unable to state the game’s limitations.

No Shooting on Jailbroken iOS Devices

Last Thursday, it was reported that Deus Ex: The Fall, an extension of Deus Ex, instituted a restriction on jailbroken iOS devices. The in-game limitation disables players from shooting guns, which effectively hobbles the game.

Gamers, on the other hand, noted that Square Enix was unable to state the restrictions on its download page. They also added that only a warning message will appear during the game. Because of this, the company decided to change their stance.

In a statement posted by gaming website Eurogamer, Square Enix said:

We have not been clear in our communication earlier this week when we launched ‘Deus Ex: The Fall’. We did not state clearly that the game would not support jailbroken devices and so we will be switching this off via an update, so that all the supported iOS devices will be able to play the game in the near future.

An update for Deus Ex: The Fall is not yet available, although a warning regarding the restriction is already posted on its download page. Square Enix’s iOS app is available on the App Store for $7.
