It was announced that Apple will hold a separate media event for Chinese journalists on September 11. Believed to be as an iPhone launch date, the event is reported to kick off just ten hours after the company takes the wraps off of their next-generation handset in their California headquarters.

Invitations regarding the Apple’s Chinese media event were released on Wednesday morning. The iPhone launch in the country is slated to take place in Beijing on Sept. 11 at 10 AM local time.

Conducting two media events will be a significant flight from the usual product launches of Apple. In addition, this will show how important the Chinese market is for the company. It should be recalled that the iPhone maker recently lost grounds to more affordable handsets manufactured by local companies like Xiaomi.

The so-called iPhone 5C will be favorable for Apple, as cheaper devices have been gaining popularity in China—the world’s largest smartphone market. Although not a flagship model like the iPhone 5S, the low-cost unit is expected to carry a competitive price in the upped mid-tier sector.

An identical event will kick off in Cupertino, California on Sept. 10, wherein Apple is expected to announce their next-generation iPhone 5S, as well as the iPhone 5C.
