In a note to investors, KGI Securities’ Ming Chi Kuo reported that Apple’s next-generation iPad and iPad Mini will boast 8-megapixels rear camera. The new lens elements will be manufactured by Genius and Largan.

Additionally, Apple Insider learned from an inside source that the sensor modules will be provided by Sony. The so-called iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2’s bump in camera resolution is a first for the company, since Apple traditionally fields tablets with shooters relatively lower than iPhone.

It appears that the Cupertino-based company will rely on camera upgrade to further differentiate their tablets from competitors in the market.
