There’s always one viral video that rises above the rest and this might be it for 2013.  Ylvis – The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?) Official Video surpassed 2 million views overnight upon upload and 158 million views in just one month.  Watch the official music video below.  Sorry, we can’t give you your time back.

The music video is ridiculous but people across the world seem to love it.  It’s being called the next ‘Gangnam Style.’  Comments range from “It’s bizarre and brilliant at the same time – and I can’t stop singing it!” to “I’m still not sure what the fox says.”  The song isn’t great by any stretch but there is something so goofy about it that it intrigues you.  You can’t help but to say WTF?  Am I really watching this?  What is going on?

Yegard and Bard Ylvisaker are the masterminds behind Ylvis and their hit single “The Fox.”  They are brothers and TV personalities from Norway.  You can catch them in the music asking questions like “What Does The Fox Say?” and prancing around in fox suits singing: “Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding! Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!”

How much could the song and music video bring in for the Norwegian brothers?  An estimate by The New York Times revealed that ‘Gangnam Style’ has brought in nearly $870,000 alone from YouTube and the Associated Press estimates $8.1 million across all sources.  As of this article, ‘Gangnam Style’ has received more than 1.8 billion views on YouTube in the last year.  There are approximately 7 billion people on earth.

What are your thoughts?  Good, bad or indifferent?
