Apple is widely expected to unveil the next generation iPad 5 and an upgraded version of the iPad mini with “Retina” display on October 22 in a special event in San Francisco.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said “Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software, and services that we can’t wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014.”

What to expect?  The next generation iPad 5 will most likely share a lot of the same features and characteristics as the new iPhone 5s.  Features such as the “Touch ID” sensor, 12MP camera better quality images and video, LED flash and a faster processor.  As far as design, leaked pictures from China show a narrower and slimmer looking iPad that closely resembles the iPad Mini.  It may also come in different colors.  The screen resolution of the “Retina” display will most likely remain the same as Apple focuses on incorporating the GF2 touch screen from the current model iPad Mini.

As far as the iPad Mini, we suspect that this generation model will include the “Retina” display.  We also expect a lot of the features on the iPhone 5s to be incorporated as mentioned earlier.

In addition to the iPad news, Apple is likely release details about their new OS X Mavericks operating system and a refresh on their Mac computers including the “Mac Book” laptop and “Mac Pro” super-computer.  We expect these new computers to be released anytime between mid November and the end of the year.

AMOG will be covering the updates from the event as it happens so make sure to tune into our blog that day.
