Man has been fascinated with breasts ever since the first time he gazed upon them. For example, there’s the so-called Venus figurine which a caveman sculpted more than 35,000 years ago. Archeologists were not only intrigued by this discovery because of how ancient it is, but how endowed the figurine is. They claim that by today’s standards it’s close to pornography. For all we know there could be a drawing or statue older than the Venus, but at least for now, we’re sure that early male Homo sapiens were obsessed with breasts. Ever since breasts have dominated the male mind more than anything else. They’ve started wars, inspired some of the greatest pieces of art, and consumed pop culture. With that in mind, here’s a timeline of the most famous breasts throughout history.
1710 B.C.: Aphrodite/Venus
Aphrodite, later Venus to the Romans, was the Greek god of love, beauty and fertility, which naturally implies that she had to have an incredible rack. Since the origins of Greek mythology go back a very long time, Aphrodite has had more than enough time to flash man. Her breasts have been captivating us from at least 1710 B.C. Her breasts have since been immortalized in pieces of art like the Venus de Milo and Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.
600 or 400 B.C.: Eve
While many of us would agree that there were plenty of humans around long before Adam and Eve, none of them have gotten the attention that these two have, since Religion has stated that they were the first people to ever roam the Earth. Regardless of any sort of Religious debates, we know that these two walked around completely nude every day and night sometime between 600 to 400 B.C. Because that was pretty much ions ago we’ve become awfully familiar with Eve’s breasts.
48 B.C.: Cleopatra
It’s been pretty much proven that Cleopatra wasn’t the hot woman that’s been portrayed throughout the generations. However, she knew how to work with what she said. How else can you explain her seducing famous men like Julius Caesar?
1571-1599: Gabrielle d’Estrees
Scholars haven’t been able to identify the artist of the painting Gabrielle d’Estrees and One of her Sisters, but they are certain who the two candid, and naughty, ladies are. Gabrielle d’Estrees and One of her Sisters, obviously. Turns out that Gabrielle d’Estrees was one of Henry IV’s favorite mistress. Not exactly shocking why considering that portrait.
1755 – 1793: Marie Antoinette
Marie Antoinette was born as an Austrian princess who later became Queen of France after marrying Louis XVI and was eventually beheaded during that whole French Revolution thing. Essentially every man that came across her was amazed at beauty and full figured body. While her looks her legendary, her breasts were just as. It’s been said that “Sevres porcelain bowls were cast using Marie Antoinette’s own ample breasts as their mould.” Nice.
1941: Wonder Woman
When Wonder Woman was unveiled in December or 1941, she pretty much gave every Golden Era fan-boy an erection. Seventy years later, she’s giving the original comic geek’s grandsons one. Why? Because she’s the quintessential comic book heroine, which is one with a perfect set of breasts.
1943: Jane Russell
In 1943, the world received it’s first look at the 38D-24-36 in the film The Outlaw. Throughout the 40′s and 50′s Russell was one of the most popular sex symbols, which I’m sure had some to do with her 38D breasts.
1953: Marilyn Monroe
We’re all aware of Marilyn Monroe’s sex appeal, but her breasts deserve special attention, since they appeared in the very first issue of Playboy in 1953.

She had no qualms about using her body for stardom, like her becoming the first mainstream actress to pose nude in the 1963 film Promises! Promises! Her breasts were so spectacular that they made Sophia Loren jealous. While Mansfield passed out at a young age, she thankfully passed on her genes to daughter Mariska Hargitay.
1955: Bettie Page
Bettie Page could be one of the most influential sex symbols ever. Without her we wouldn’t have pin-up girls and glamor and fetish models. That’s why she deserved every bit of the following honors: In 1955 “Miss Pin-up Girl of the World,” January 1955, the centerfold in Playboy’s January issue and was nicknamed the “Girl with the Perfect Figure.”
1957: Brigitte Bardot
Bardot had been acting and modeling for years, but the 1957 film And God Created Woman, pushed the limits of sexuality and made her an international “sex kitten”.
1963: Annette Funicello
Annette Funicello began her acting career as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club. Once she matured, she was more than willing to show off her goods. She became an instant icon after starring in numerous “Beach Party” movies with Frankie Avalon. Instead of wearing a modest one piece bathing suit, Annette and her bosoms rocked a scandelous two-piece. Because she pretty paved the way for future Mouseketeers, like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, to become sex symbols, we’re more than glad to salute her.
1964: Carol Doda
Carol Doda may not be a household name but she should be. On June 19, 1964 she became the entertainment industries first topless entertainer, she would also be the first bottomless entertainer. While Carol gained a lot of publicity as a topless performer she earned more when she enlarged her breasts from a size 34 to 44.
1959: Dolly Parton
Yes, the “Queen of Country Music” and her 40-DD breasts have been mesmerizing us since her debut in 1959.
1982: Phoebe Cates
A lost of actresses have exposed themselves in films, but none of them come even close to Phoebe Cates pool scene in Fast Times at Ridgement High.
1988: Jessica Rabbit
Not since the likes of Wonder Woman has an animated woman’s breast impressed us.
1990: Pamela Anderson
In February of 1990, Pamela Anderson was introduced to to the world via Playboy. After a breast enlargement, she went on to enchant us with Baywatch and home-made sex tapes.
Madonna had used sex throughout her career, but her 1992 book Sex gave us the opportunity, although many guys probably had had, to finally witness how gorgeous her breasts actually were.
1992: Anna Nicole Smith
Just like Pamela Anderson, Anna Nicole Smith became famous after appearing in Playboy. Her enlarged 42-DD breasts made her an instant sex symbol.
1995: Danni Ashe
Danni Ashe, and her 32FF breasts, became the most downloaded woman, and filthy rich, after she started her own website in 1995.
2003: Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson isn’t all that great of an actress, and let’s not even mention her “singing”, but there’s two reasons why we keep watching her films.
2004: Janet Jackson
For years Janet Jackson was Micheal’s hot kid sister. That all changed after a wardrobe malfunction, during the halftime show at Super Bowl XXXVIII, when millions upon millions of viewers saw a perfectly exposed breast.
2010: Katy Perry
Katy Perry is pretty much talentless, but her breasts her so impressive that they forced Sesame Street to can a segment with her and Elmo. At least she’s having fun with that whole debacle.
