Call of Duty Ghosts Outsells Grand Theft Auto V With $1 Billion In Sales

Call of Duty: Ghosts was anticipated to break records for the Activision Blizzard, Inc. franchise but many doubted whether it would be able to surpass the all time record held by Grand Theft Auto 5 which sold $800 million in the first 24 hours.  Activision is reporting sales of $1 billion for Call of Duty: Ghosts on the first day and contributes its success to a record number of pre-orders.  Should you buy it?

The latest iteration of Call of Duty features an entirely new dynamic where players aren’t just fighting for freedom or liberty, they’re fighting for survival.  10 years after a massive and devastating event occurred, the nation’s border and global power has been redrawn.  All that’s left is a mysterious group of Special Operation forces, known as Ghosts, to fight a newly emerged and technologically superior global power.

What’s New!

Call of Duty: Ghosts allows players to select the head, body type, head-gear and equipment.  There is also a female soldier for the first time. With over 20,000 possible combinations, you can create the soldier customized to you.  And each soldier you create will also have his or her own load outs.

“Although they’re simple modifiers, the new gametypes are immensely fun and breathe new life into multiplayer.” IGN

“Infinity Ward brings a different kind of game with Call of Duty: Ghosts than their usual CoD titles. They have an intriguing, story driven campaign that is accompanied by an incredibly fun (and deep) multiplayer experience.”  Digital Chumps

“I dont really get the dumb trolling part from BF4 nerdys. I must say i played both and i just giving 10 not only because i find this one way entertaining than bf4 but because i loved the campaing story.” nellomora12

“Despite an overriding feeling of familiarity, Ghosts is a

nother excellent entry in the Call of Duty series.” Digital Spy

“The developer does a great job with the some of the set pieces, but most of the campaign is still basic, refined cover shooting. A decent last hurrah on the PlayStation 3, but you may want to invest in the PlayStation 4, PC, or Xbox One versions if you’re looking for the full effect.”  USgamer

Call of Duty: Ghosts for Xbox One and Playstation 4

While setting records on the first day, Ghosts may continue to set records due to it being in the unique position of having two launches, with the second happening when the PS4 and Xbox One arrive later this month.

It also seems likely Ghosts is going to set some records that won’t be beaten for quite a while due to it being in the unique position of having two launch windows, with the second happening when the PS4 and Xbox One arrive.
