Sofia Vergara, The Most Desirable Women of 2012

Sofía Margarita Vergara Vergara born July 10, 1972 raised in Barranquilla is a spicy hot Colombian actress, comedian, television hostess and model. This name uses Spanish naming customs; the first or paternal family name is Vergara and the second or maternal family name is Vergara. Her mother, Margarita, is a housewife. Her father, Julio, provides cattle to the meat industry. And she has 5 siblings. Her son is named Manolo after the character of the same name from Scarface. Vergara had been widely known for co-hosting two TV shows for Univisión in the late 1990s. Her TV career opened up for her a window of exposure to North American audiences prior to her first notable acting job in English, the 2003 film Chasing Papi. Subsequently, she appeared in films, including two Tyler Perry films, Meet the Browns and Madea Goes to Jail, receiving an ALMA Award nomination for the latter. Vergara’s success within television has earned her roles in recent films, The Smurfs, New Year’s Eve, Happy Feet Two and her current movie The Three Stooges. With her new movie set to hit theaters next month, Sofia Vergara added to the promotional efforts by landing the cover of the April 2012 issue of Esquire.

She was educated at a private bilingual Spanish/English school. She then went on to study per-Dentistry at Colombia University. However, Sofía was discovered by a photographer, whilst at the beach, and this led to various jobs in modeling and television. At age 23, she was a runway model. From 1995 to 1998, she co-hosted a travel show, “Fuera de serie”, which gave her exposure in the United States. Thanks to years of hard work and intense studies it appeared as if young Vergara was at last close to realizing her childhood dream of becoming a dentist, though an innocent walk on the beach proved that fate had other things in store for the career minded beauty. Glimpsed by a well known photographer as she strolled the shore in her native Colombia, Vergara was soon stepping in front of the cameras to appear in a Pepsi commercial that soon made her a recognizable face across the country. Just when it seemed like Vergara would be destined for a career as eye candy, she was cast as Ed O’Neil’s much younger wife in ABC’s monster hit sitcom Modern Family. As the quick-witted, headstrong Gloria, Vergara proved that she’s a lot more than cleavage and a smile, and has been rewarded for her scene stealing performance with a nomination for best supporting actress at this year’s Emmys.

Move over Salma Hayek, there’s a new busty Latina bombshell in town. Well, Sofia Vergara isn’t exactly new she’s been in show business as either a model, host or actress since she was 17 but only now is she gaining mainstream recognition in the United States. With her scene-stealing role as Gloria, the spicy matriarch on ABC’s runaway hit Modern Family, Vergara is one of the most deft comedic actresses on television, and she has an Emmy nomination to prove it. In 2011, Vergara was named the new face of Cover Girl. It will be her first ever campaign for the cosmetics company. The advertisements debuted in January 2012.

In April 2011, Vergara debuted in a Diet Pepsi commercial with David Beckham. Diet Pepsi’s marketing director has said that Pepsi has formalized its relationship with Vergara, but it is not known when or where followup commercials will air. In September 2011, it was announced that Vergara is designing a clothing line for K-Mart targeting “soccer moms.” Also in 2011, Vergara was featured in a number of commercials for Comcast’s Xfinity brand. AskMen named Vergara the most desirable woman in 2002 and ranked as # 30 but this year it made her to top and ranked as # 1 as most desirable famous women of 2012. Sofia Vergara is a sex symbol of the highest order. Blessed with the proportions of a blow up doll on steroids, the busty Colombian is one of the sexiest women in show business. With full lips, cascading hair and a body that won’t quit, Vergara has charmed everyone from Jamie Foxx to Tom Cruise.
