  29. guest says:

Each of you critics should make your own list, put it on here, and then let everyone else rip you to shreds. That said, it could be argued that the best movie quotes are ones that have become part of the vernacular – everyone's heard them, even if they have no idea who said them, what movie they're from, or even that they're from a movie – or even if they are usually misquoted, such as "Play it again, Sam" from Casablanca. Some examples (most already mentioned): "Go ahead, make my day" (Clint Eastwood, Sudden Impact), "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse" (Marlon Brando, The Godfather), "You had me at hello" (Renee Zellweger, Jerry McGuire), "Show me the money" (Cuba Gooding, Jr., Jerry McGuire), "Houston, we have a problem" (Tom Hanks, Apollo 13), "Schwing" (Mike Myers, Wayne's World), "I'll be back (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator), "Hasta la vista, baby" (T2), "You talkin' to me?" (Robert DeNiro, Taxi Driver), "Here's lookin at you, kid" and "We'll always have Paris" – insert your own word for "Paris" (Humphrey Bogart, Casablanca), "Round up the usual suspects," (Claude Rains, Casablanca), “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn” (Clark Gable, Gone with the Wind), "I’ve got a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore” (Judy Garland, Wizard of Oz), "Life is like a box of chocolates" (Tom Hanks slightly misquoted in Forrest Gump), "I pity da fool" (Mr T, Rocky 3), "Think, McFly, think!" (Thomas Wilson, Back to the Future). And of course everyone has his own personal favorites, no matter how obscure. I laugh at Bill Murray just looking at him, and many of my favorite lines are his – in Caddyshack, after the Dalai Lama tells him, "there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." and he says, "So I got that goin' for me, which is nice." And in Ghostbusters II, when Sigourney Weaver answers the door as the Gatekeeper, and he says, "That's a new look for you, isn't it?" Anyway, how about more of you post your favorite lines…
