More and more Apple-related rumors are coming out these days. The low-cost iPhone and the so-called iPhone 5S are among them. However, another rumor is out, saying that Apple will release a 4.8-inch device called “iPhone Math.”
Citing upstream chain sources, the China Times reported that Apple will take the wraps off the three iPhones this year. The devices will have staggered release throughout the year, with the first two being the next-generation iPhone and the rumored “phablet.”
There were also claims about a third product, which will feature a 12-megapixel camera and will be released before the holiday season. However, not much is known about the purported device as of the moment. As for its specifications, the mystery device is said to feature a large display that measures at least 4.8 inches diagonal.
Working on the iPhone Math
As suggested by recent reports, Apple may debut a low-cost iPhone this year. However, there were no words about the iPhone Math. In relation to this, China Times believes that a 4.8-inch phablet will help the company stay competitive in light of competing manufacturers’ offerings.
Its form factor and screen resolution are unknown, but the device is said to boast an 8-megapixel camera lens built by Largan Precision. There were also claims that the Chinese firm has supposedly been tapped to supply some 8 million camera lenses for the iPhone 5S and iPhone Math.
Component shipments for the two devices, including touchscreen panels and cameras, are said to begin in March prior to the late-April production timeline. Foxconn, on the other hand, is said to be responsible for assembling 90 percent of the orders.
Words and Rumors on iPhone 5S
Meanwhile, rumors about the iPhone 5S are in line with the predictions of industry pundits with regards to the device’s production timeline. Furthermore, the manufacturing is expected to begin in March ahead of a June or July launch.
It was recently noted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities that the next-generation iPhone may boast of a fingerprint scanner in the home button. He also expects that a low-cost iPhone will debut during the third quarter of the year.
The new model will be identical to the iPhone 5, although its expensive aluminum chassis will be replaced with polycarbonate in six different colors. Prior to this, AMOG reported that an iPhone 5S prototype shows minor tweaks on the back panel’s internal design.
