Meet Xerneas and Yveltal
At the end of the game’s trailer, fans caught a glimpse of the legendary Pokemon within each version. However, their names remained unannounced. But this time, the Pokemon Company stated that the legendary Pokemons are named Xerneas and Yveltal.
Xerneas (ZURR-nee-us), is the deer-like legendary Pokemon in the game’s official trailer. On the other hand, Yveltal (ee-VELL-tawl) is the one seen soaring through the skies. To get more glimpses of them, check out the trailer below.
Pokemon X and Y’s Big Reveal
Prior to this, Nintendo announced their next installment for the Pokemon series—Pokemon X and Y. Set for the Nintendo 3DS, it introduces new Pokemon, new storyline, and dynamic battles. Pokemon X and Pokemon Y will sport a new look for the series, moving away from the traditional interface that has been part of the game since 1996. Both versions will feature 3D-like visuals, although it remains to be seen whether Pokemon: Male Chromosome will boast a new region or an update of an older version.
The game will also have three new Pokemon starters. Players can choose among Chespin, a grass-type pokemon; Froakie, a water-type pokemon that looks like a blue frog; and lastly, the adorable fire-type pokemon, Fennekin.
In addition, the company revealed that the game will expand into new animation called Pokemon TCG and new toys merchandise. As stated by Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara:
The worldwide launch of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y this October allows players to begin their adventures at the same time. Now, Pokemon fans across the globe can discover the secrets of Pokemon games and can collect, battle, and trade with each other immediately.
Game Freak Director Junichi Masuda added:
We brought Pokemon into an entirely new dimension and we’re incredibly excited to bring Pokemon X and Pokemon Y to fans. The stunning visuals, a completely redesigned environment, game scenario, music, and communication features will bring smiles to the faces of video game players around the world.
Nintendo’s Pokemon X and Y will be available for Nintendo 3DS worldwide this October. This will mark the first time that a Pokemon title will be available in all countries.
Before this, Nintendo released the Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2 last October 2011 in North America, Europe and Australia. It features the new Legendary Pokemon identified as Black Kyurem and White Kyurem.
