Craft Beer – A Hopumentary / Facebook
It’s no secret that people have been getting their drink on as far back as 8000 B.C. By 3500 B.C., men from all parts of the world began brewing beer. So it goes without saying that there’s a rich history in the art of making craft beer.
But, as the 20th Century marched on, breweries were gobbled up by major companies, mainly Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors. Eventually, through industry consolidation, America was left with fewer than 100 breweries. This created “an entirely American style of beer, one that had been diluted, homogenized, and mass-produced.”
Within the last 30 years, however, a movement has been literally brewing that’s changed how Americans have been consuming brew. What started out as several homebrewers looking to create a better quality beer has now become a $10 billion business that has 2,347 craft breweries.
To celebrate this impressive growth and appreciation of craft beer, a couple of beer lovers released “Craft Beer – A Hopumentary” on May 28, 2013. The 15-minute documentary takes a look at the success and struggles of 5 characters in the Bay Area’s craft beer scene.
It’s definitely worth the watch, so check it out below.
